More student responses to the Rose


Today was quite remarkable at the Rose Art Museum. I had never seen it so full of people, except at an opening. This is the first weekend since the announced closing of the museum, and the word had certainly gotten out. Most of the visitors I talked to had never been to the Rose before, and many had never been in a contemporary art museum, but they figured this was one of their last chances to see the museum. Some drove for hours to get here.

The front windows of the museum still are decorated with the protest signs students made at the "sit in" on Thursday.

Joe Wardwell, a colleague in Fine Arts, who had curated the Master of Reality exhibition, gave a moving testimonial to the importance of a great art museum in studio education.
